Here are some animes I've watched:

D. Gray Man - Love it.
Katekyo Hitman Reborn! - Pretty awesome.
Gintama - Funny as hell, sad that it ended.
Naruto - One of my first anime ever, and I love it.
Bleach - All I have to say is, BANKAI!
Fairy Tail - Not a bad one.
One Piece - One of my favorites.
Elfen Lied - This one is awesome as well.
Death Note - I wish I had a Death Note...
Beelzebub - Really funny anime.
Fullmetal Alchemist - Interesting anime.
Soul Eater - Not a bad one either.

That's all I can remember for now.

I was just the same as you at first, gave it another try, and I regretted nothing.

Ever tried watching Code Geass, Dragonsun? Personally my favorite. I think it's great. Naruto was alright... But it seemed to me that the storyline was dragged on a little bit too slowly. I watched Bleach and it was pretty enjoyable, but like Andrew I didn't understand most of the things.

Code Geass, huh? Nope. Haven't watched it, but I just might.

code geass is nice if you don't mind Mecha with a little bit of psychological like death note. its somewhat futuristic medieval.

if you don't mind the high school setting, and a bit emotional-girl theme, Clannad is one of those anime you can only watch once, like Elfen Lied. It goes beyond the regular anime in its season 2, After Story. It did what no anime ever did, continue the story after a happy ending.
